Preauthorized Payment for Property Taxes

The Township of Minden Hills has a Preauthorized Payment Plan for the payment of property taxes and offers you three convenient ways to pay your taxes. Payments will always be made on time, even if you are away.

Benefits of Enrolment include:

  • The elimination of postage and/or the expense and inconvenience of delivering payments to our office.
  • No more standing in line-ups, worrying about missed due dates, or incurring late payment charges.
  • No service charges or fees to participate in any of our payment plans.
  • Our monthly plan allows you to budget your property taxes over a 10-month period.
  • Once registered in one of our payment plans, your enrollment in subsequent years will be automatic.
  • You can enroll in any of our payment plans at any time! Simply complete and sign our Customer Agreement & Authorization form and provide alongside an unsigned blank cheque marked VOID.

Enrolment, Bank Account / Plan Changes and Cancellation

  • To be eligible to enroll in any of our plan your property tax account must be up-to-date.
  • Line of Credit or Credit Card Accounts are not accepted.
  • Your taxes cannot be included with your mortgage payments and paid by your Mortgage Company.
  • If for any reason you wish to be removed from your payment plan, or if your banking information changes, you must notify the Finance Department at least two (2) weeks prior to you next payment.

Payment Plan Options

  • Due Date Plan: If this plan is selected, the full amount of each tax instalment is the amount that is withdrawn from your bank account on the instalment date.
  • 10 Month Plan: Our 10 Month Plan allows your property taxes to be paid over 10 months, February to November. 
    • Your 10 monthly payments will be withdrawn from your bank on the last business day of each month.
    • You will be provided with a payment schedule in January and June of each year.
  • 12 Month Arrears Plan: This plan is intended for property owners in arrears to bring their account current through monthly payments.
    • If this plan is selected, the payment amount, subject to approval by the Finance Department, will be withdrawn on the last business day of each month.
    • Penalty and interest will continue to apply to outstanding taxes throughout enrollment in this plan.
    • Once the tax account is current, the option exists to switch to the 10 Month Plan, or remain enrolled in the arrears plan. However, throughout enrollment in the arrears plan it is the property owners responsibility to ensure each installment is paid in full or penalty will apply.

Pre-Authorized Payment Details

I/We authorize the Township of Minden Hills to debit my/our account, per attached void cheque, on the tax payment due dates.
I/We understand that this program will be continued for subsequent years unless we notify you in writing to cancel the program.
I/We further understand that should any payment be dishonoured by our bank for any reason, a non-sufficient funds fee and penalty/interest of 1.25% will be charged. If payment is not replaced before the next scheduled withdrawal date, participation in the program may be cancelled. Any other charges that are added to your tax account (such as Supplementary/Omitted Tax Bills, water/sewer charges, etc.) will not be deducted through the pre-authorized program and must be paid separately. If you do not pay other charges separately, you will be removed from the program. It is acknowledged that in order to revoke or change this authorization (i.e. bank account changes, cancellations, property ownership changes), the customer must provide written notice which must be received two (2) weeks prior to the next payment.
